1.) These firrelogs are excellent!

Dear Amazonians,
I remember my younger years, when my family had a house in East Hampton, New York, and on cold wintry days, we would gather around the fireplace to keep warm. Sometimes we used real wood in the fireplace for that unique, one-of-a-kind crackling sound that only wood can provide. Other times, we used firelogs such as this Duraflame product. Synthetic firelogs such as this one do not come close to providing the atmosphere that real wood does, but they do burn considerably longer than wood. There is much less maintenance, so you can sit back and relax, not needing to tend to the fireplace every few minutes. I would recommend this product ever-so-highly. Not only would I recommend this product, but I would recommend ALL of Duraflame's products. From their firelogs, to their fire starters, fire lighters, and even their pre-fabricated fireplaces and other accessories. Duraflame is a quality company that makes quality products. I have contacted Amazon.com in the past, asking them to stock ALL of Duraflame's products, so that we loyal customers can purchase them while maximizing the benefits of our Amazon Prime memberships. I really want to be able to purchase some cases of Duraflame Firestart fire starters from Amazon, and have them arrive with that wonderful free 2-day shipping! If other customers read this review, please, please write to Amazon, or even call them, and urge Amazon to carry Duraflame's full line of fire products. You will enjoy them every bit as much as I did (and still do) when I was younger and with my family on those wonderful cold nights in East Hampton.
2.) Burns Great.... But Where is the Color?

I really like Duraflame logs, so much so that we don't even bother with real wood fires anymore-- it's just not worth the hassle. Of course it's not exactly the same, and you don't get as much heat... But the effect, convenience and price make up for it. I can have a nice full fire burning all night for around $2 and don't have to deal with the wood delivery, storage, splitting anymore.
The only reason I'm lowering the score is the Duraflame Colorlogs just don't have the promised effect. They work and burn just fine, but the colored flames are barely noticeable. To my eye, its just the same orange flame, with only a sliver of blue or purple here and there around the edges.
I would recommend using the normal 4 hour duraflame logs because they last longer-- at least 3.5 hours on average. I usually cut the logs in half and use a small amount of starter gel to get them burning faster. The smaller logs still give the same flame height and full burn time--at half the price. I also stick the logs in the middle of a gas-style 'concrete log set' and it looks very similar like a wood fire. We've had more than a few guests surprised that it wasn't.
